Museum of Orange Heritage

In 2023 the Museum of Orange Heritage opened a new exhibition at Schomberg House, Belfast.

Entitled Liberty, the exhibition examines the events of the Glorious Revolution and the legacy this had for freedom and constitutional reform in the British Isles and further afield.

The exhibition allows visitors to have a greater understanding of the events and legacy of the Glorious Revolution and compliments the permanent displays at the Museum of Orange Heritage, 368 Cregagh Road, Belfast.

Museum Board chairman Rev. Mervyn Gibson said: “We are delighted to have this wonderful exhibition at Schomberg House and I am sure it will be of interest to a great many people. This is a part of history which is very interesting indeed as it has so many links to the many freedoms and liberties that we enjoy today.”

Curator of the Museum of Orange Heritage Dr. Jonathan Mattison added: “This is a fascinating period of history with many significant events taking place that would shape the future not only in the British Isles, but ultimately in places like the United States of America.

“The many benefits which were delivered by the Glorious Revolution include the Bill of Rights, freedom of the press, a modern banking system, an independent judiciary and the establishment of a parliamentary democracy.”

The Museum of Orange Heritage is open from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.Last entry to the galleries is 4pm. Admission is FREE of charge.
