The Corinium Museum traces the history of the Cotswolds from prehistory to modern day. Explore the prehistoric landscape through Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age tools, pots, jewellery and even a replica roundhouse in our interactive prehistory gallery.
Travel back to Roman Britain and learn about life in the important Romano British town of Corinium, though our collection of incredible mosaics, stonework and statues, jewellery, games and so much more in two floors of Roman galleries. Learn about life in Anglo-Saxon England through an impressive selection of grave goods and archaeology.
Wonder at the wealth of medieval Cirencester, with its powerful and rich Augustinian Abbey and its profitable wool trade in our Medieval gallery. Get curious about Cirencester's role in significant battles in the English Civil War, through first-hand accounts and buried treasure, and take a view of aspects of life up to modern day in our final gallery.
After visiting our well-stocked shop, which sells a range of local products, gifts, historical memorabilia, books, jewellery and greetings cards, pop into our vibrant exhibition gallery. It offers a monthly changing schedule of displays of local artwork and specialist exhibitions and is free to enter.
We also run a range of talks, walks, workshops for children and adults, RBO live screenings of opera and ballet and other events.
