Port Sunlight Village
Come and explore one of the finest industrial worker villages in the world. Built in 1888 by William Lever to house the factory workers at his Sunlight Soap factory, Port Sunlight was a radical vision to provide a healthy and beautiful place for working class people to live and work. Some of the leading architects of the late 19th and early 20th century contributed towards designing the blocks of Arts and Crafts-style cottages which line its leafy streets, with no two houses being the same.
Today, Port Sunlight is home to over 900 Grade II listed houses, acres of stunning gardens and parkland, a fascinating museum, a world-class art gallery and a thriving community. No visit to the village is complete without exploring its unique story at Port Sunlight Museum and stepping inside the time capsule Edwardian Worker's Cottage.
Located on the Wirral, less than half an hour away from both Chester and Liverpool by train and car, Port Sunlight is an ideal place for groups to explore. The village offers extensive free coach parking and easy drop-off and pick-up points. Groups can enjoy a guided tour from their own vehicle or a walking tour to discover beautiful architecture, picturesque gardens and parks, and impressive monuments.
